Fact is, I don't even know the name of the poster I was thinking of when I said that "venting" thing; it wasn't even you, but those who I see referring to "lie-ble" etc. Point is, even though it's TRUE, that's a CONCLUSION, and has to be determined by supportive facts.
I got news for ya': I rarely pay attention to who anyone is on forums, since I don't waste time even trying to figure out who said what, who's inconsistent, who's picture is really them, etc, etc. Most posters don't even come up on my radar in that way, since honestly, it doesn't matter... I read to consider ideas, and am an equal opportunity basher. I'm not here to play PC games, but to make a few points, have a few laughs, and slice a few infants in half, etc.
Lurkers who come here have had a bellyful of fake politeness in the JWs, no doubt enuf to last a lifetime (you know, referring to others as "friends", "brothers and sisters", etc). I don't play that game, and find faux sincerity a tad much (unless I'm trying to establish a relationship with them in real-life, whether biz or personal): who needs it? You matter to the people you matter to in your life: I'm not here to make forum friendsies, form alliances (like it's Survivor, or some lame reality TV show), etc, but to help people break free of a strangling, energy-sapping cult.
And you do put down the things people believe that's different from you. your no different from the WTS

Hey, it's not my fault if some wish to cling to a lie that's simply a different flavor of the same lie. As long as people are going to make changes in their life, they'd be better off doing a clean sweep, cutting the feeder roots at the deepest main root, and questioning that which the JW lie is based: the Bible itself.
Now, that's MY conclusion, and I don't WANT anyone to accept it based on MY word, as they'd still not be conducting independent research and thought (which makes it useless: that's the same thing they already have done their whole lives, relying on GB as "experts"). Obviously the topic is beyond the scope of THIS thread, so they'd have to read a bit to find such discussions....
I don't pull any punches, when it comes to the truth: why should I, or anyone else? In the free market of public opinion, people can pick and choose which arguments are supported by evidence, etc. and not just fluff.

I was AGREEING with what you wrote, not challenging it. I do that, using someone's words as a springboard to expand MY thought that was inspired by what someone else wrote.
Here's my advice to you (since you brought the issue up): drop your defensiveness, ASSUMING that everyone is out to get you, trying to attack you. Defensiveness never got anyone anywhere, and is going to create only needless stress for you if you interact with others on discussion forums.

It's interesting, as JWs deliver a horrific World-view message (i.e. "6.93 billion people are going to DIE, but the good news is you can survive and help us bury the bodies!"). That message tends to attract those despondent and depressed about the future of humanity, who actually see that mass murder might actually be as GOOD thing, relying on the old dualistic mindset of "evil" vs "good" people (thanks, Zoroaster for boiling it down to a simple dichotomy 2,500 years ago, one that any fool could grasp, esp after Xianity adopted the belief into their religion).
JWs also share a belief that the "good news of the Kingdom" is a magical anti-depressant belief, which SHOULD make all true believers "happy". Hence any failure of the good news to relieve their depression is automatically viewed as the fault of the believer, who's simply weak in their faith, i.e. it's the classic "it's all your fault, you're doing something wrong!" response as seen throughout the Bible. Their advice is, "if you'd only believe stronger, I mean REALLY REALLY BELIEVE, then your depression would go away!!"
JWs thus share a coping mechanism, and many ARE self-treating endogenous depression with it.
However, it's no different from those who self-medicate their depression with alchohol, drugs, etc. Such methods work, until they don't.
And asking other JWs about treating depression is not dissimilar from going to the neighborhood bar, and asking if it's a good idea to drink when you're feeling down. What do you THINK the answer from other alcoholics will be, since they're relying on the same strategy, too?

The hardcore group of hackers/IT pros/Sys ads are out of commission (many were busted by FBI last year, after agents infiltrated them by catching one in the act, threatening him with 125 years behind bars if he didn't act as their informant; he ratted out many others, and the chain reaction is still going on).
My point is, anyone who's halfway aware of Anons activities over the past 5 years (following the activity via Arstechnica, Gizmodo, or other tech journalists) knows this kind of stuff....

Your reaction though, is very common: since your eyes have been opened, it is literally amazing to you when you look around and see all the others who seemingly cannot see what is as plain to you as the nose on people's faces.
However, the power of group delusion is incredibly strong, and if it were so simple, as if some magic combination of words existed that could break the power of denial (like "Abracadabra!"), then it wouldn't be such a challenge....

I actually DO write with the expectations that some who are questioning WILL read here, and hence get an alternative viewpoint that they've never had the privelege of reading or thinking about before.
But the converse is that ALL POSTERS should keep that in mind, as volatile and inflammatory language is the easiest way to sabotage one's own efforts at helping. Whenever I see needlessly provocative language, I wonder if that's not only back-firing, and causing the shields to automatically go up, and confirming in their minds that the GB is right: everyone here IS just a "diseased" apostate, which is not true. (Heck, I was never baptized, and was in for 5 yrs as a kid of a single-parent convert, some 40 years ago.)
I know some are venting their anger at the JWs which is fine, but a dispassionate "just the facts, Ma'am" approach (as taken on jwfacts.com) is probably going to get the message across more effectively than a ranting poster ever will....

They survived 1914, and flourished in its wake. Perhaps the information age makes things different, but I doubt it: most all young dubs have access to the Internet and browse daily, but they're so conditioned to reject what they read that they're on auto-reject mode....
And the GB will use a strategy that mankind has used for 4,000 yrs: blame themselves when God doesn't do something, ie "we didn't understand his message", etc, etc. Men are good at building towers of excuses so high, that they put the Tower of Babel to shame....
